Junior Counselor Responsibilities
Junior Counselors must be 16 years of age by September 1st of the same calendar year as this coming camp season. They will receive a stipend and are required to attend daily for the duration of the camp season. If you cannot be in camp for the entire camp season (all 39 days), do not accept this position.
Junior Counselors Must:
- Arrive in camp no later than 9:20.
- Meet and assist the children in their group in getting to their cabins.
- Assist in getting the group together and leading them to the assembly area.
- Remain with the group throughout the day and assist the senior counselors in every capacity.
- Serve as waiters and waitresses for their group during lunch.
- Never set policy, discipline or reprimand a child.
- Bring all situations and problems to the immediate attention of the senior counselors.
- Give their full cooperation in all matters concerning the welfare of the children.
- Act as a professional counselor at all times.
- Assist the specialists at their respective activities.
- Remain with the group at the dismissal of assemblies.
- Escort each child to his or her driver at dismissal.
- Attend two preseason in-service meetings.
Failure to comply will result in immediate dismissal.
Junior Counselors will be rated on the basis of responsibility, dependability, maturity, initiative, enthusiasm, warmth, application of abilities, attendance and punctuality. Only those receiving an excellent will be invited to return the following season.
Junior Counselors will receive a stipend at the end of the camp season.
Deduction will be made from stipend for any absence.
Transportation will be provided for Junior Counselors; however, Junior Counselors may provide their own transportation.
